LAB Becher Duo-Set No. 1 – presented by SZ Magazine.
Frederick the Great had two great loves: porcelain and dogs. In the second KPM+ edition, the artist and comic artist Anna Haifisch focuses on Frederick's greyhound Biche and his sister Wilhelmine of Prussia's miniature spaniel Folichon. The so-called dog letters were written in May 1748.
On behalf of his greyhound Biche, the Prussian king wrote heart-rending sentences to the little toy spaniel Folichon. Wilhelmine replied on behalf of Folichon (“the little madman”) with wistful lines. The LAB Becher Duo-Set No. 1 from the KPM + Anna Haifisch edition costs 145 euros and is now available in our KPM Berlin stores across Germany and in the online shop.

Anna Haifisch transports the eccentric pen pal friendship and the deep sibling love with her usual humor to the LAB Mug No. 1. Biche and Folichon - the pampered, royal darlings - snuggle up in a drawn blue line under soft blankets and on fluffy pillows against a white background. The glazed part of the LAB Mug No. 1 provided the perfect background for Haifisch: she applied her designs by hand with a pen and paint. The decorations of the edition were applied in accordance with the artist's wishes by the KPM master painters using a hand-printing process and are very robust and dishwasher-safe. This makes the mug set the perfect addition to the artist's LAB Bowl, which is dedicated to Friedrich's seven wind chimes.

FREDERICK THE GREAT
HAD TWO GREAT LOVES: PORCELAIN AND DOGS
FREDERICK THE GREAT HAD TWO GREAT LOVES: PORCELAIN AND DOGS
Frederick the Great had two great loves: porcelain and dogs. His last words were for Superbe, his favorite dog, who faithfully stayed by his deathbed.
The award-winning Leipzig artist and comic artist Anna Haifisch has now combined Friedrich's passions on the bowls of the LAB collection - as a humorous combination of passion and history. Biche, Alcmène, Hasenfuß, Thisbe, Phillis, Arsione and Suberbe - Friedrich's seven wind chimes now jump, play and hunt in delicate blue lines on a white background. It is no coincidence that their pointed-beaked filigree is reminiscent of birds. Because Haifisch is not the only artist who prefers to devote himself to feathered motifs, Friedrich also knew: "An idiot who has not yet realized that the wind chime is not a dog at all, but a four-legged bird."

When it comes to porcelain (as with her otherwise preferred medium of paper), purity, whiteness and hardness play a major role. "When an ink pen glides wetly and without resistance over a smooth surface, there is nothing more satisfying for me," the artist sums up.
